Connie and Steven are launched off the track as the carts smash into Steven's shield bubble as they are trapped inside. Steven refers to this ride as the "Kiddy Coaster" because it is slow and has a gentle ellipse shape. However since "Too Short to Ride", this ride requires a height test that Steven, Amethyst, and Peridot fail to meet.
In the same episode, Onion attempts to set fire to the Appalachian with torches. This has hinted to have happened before since Mr. Smiley is heard shouting, "No! I'm still paying off the last lawsuit!"
- Its namesake refers to the major mountain chain lining the East Coast, where Beach City is located.
- The snow-skiing dog that appears on the side of the ride may be a reference to Pug Davis, another project created by Rebecca Sugar.
- The name "The Appalachian" is possibly a reference to the popular amusement park ride, "Himalaya", which is also named after a mountain range. The two rides are also similar in design.
